Auto MailBy: J.D. Lewis
Summary:
One Saturday, while my wife and I were driving home from the grocery store, I discovered the usual cluster of "ready to mail envelopes" tucked in the sun visor. ![]()
As we traveled down the highway, drawing closer to the entrance to our apartment complex, I grabbed the stack of envelopes from the sun visor and prepared to drop them from my passenger window into the mail box just inside the entrance. I could even do this Saturday ritual in my sleep, right? Lucky for me, I was feeling quite sleepy at the time.

We proceeded to make the familiar right turn, and I began to roll down the window, poised to drop the mail into the box. Our vehicle came to a stop. Through my hazy mind and hazy vision, I spotted the slot where I would drop the envelopes. I reached out of the window, and, just as I was about to let go of the stack of mail, my wife exclaimed, "Honey! What are you doing?" Confused, I quickly pulled back my hand. My wife informed me, "We're not at the mail box. You were about to drop our 'bill payments' into the slightly opened window of that Toyota!" Apparently, my wife decided to make a stop at the video store located in the small shopping plaza immediately before the turn into our complex. ABAPITA John D. Lewis Harrisburg, PA |
