This online learning experience is designed to help you share, develop and practice online skills so you can find meaningful internships and jobs through personal branding and networking. To reach that objective as an eLearner, you'll be using all of the interactive tools the eSight eLearning Center has to offer -- including online portfolio resources and blogs. Key Competencies The following are eight key competencies, divided into four sections, that you can expect to acquire through hands-on learning in this course: Blogging Lesson 1. Interacting with others within a blog as a contributor and facilitator. Lesson 2. Learning how a personal blog can complement your online portfolio. Contacts Lesson 3. Discovering how and when to cultivate contacts who can help you in your career development Lesson 4. Writing for the Web environment and finding your online voice, tone and style. Insight Lesson 5. Rethinking disability from an employment perspective. Lesson 6. Understanding what disability means to your career development. Identification Lesson 7. Using an online environment to establish your personal brand, given your stage in life, your disability, employment trends and your goals. Lesson 8. Developing an Online Presence Expected Outcomes Upon completion of this course, you will have developed a framework (most notably in such tangibles as a completed offering statement, JIST Card and ePortfolio) for launching your own online networking initiative as a tool for finding a job.
